Job Description

The Junior Quantity Surveyor Engineer supports the Preconstruction and Estimating team by assisting with document control, performing basic quantity take-offs, and learning core QS principles. This entry-level role is designed to build foundational skills in estimating workflows, document handling, and construction drawing interpretation, while contributing to the team’s overall efficiency and accuracy.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage and update document logs; perform OCR, bookmarking, and overlays with change narratives.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs under supervision across standard trades and assigned specialties.
  • Communicate with U.S. Estimators and Assistant Team Leads to resolve discrepancies.
  • Interpret construction drawings, specs, and bulletins for estimating purposes.
  • Apply standard processes to QTO outputs.
  • Support clients with timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Use OST, Bluebeam, Box, SharePoint/OneDrive, Excel for take-offs, markups, and data management.

Essential Skills

Technical

  • Basic proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam (markup and overlay), Box, SharePoint, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with CSI divisions and estimating templates is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn document control and QTO processes.

  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in estimating, preconstruction, or related construction roles.
  • Exposure to OST, Bluebeam, Box, or Microsoft Office Suite is an advantage.
